While our 10 mg micro scoops are helpful for testing small amounts when using fentanyl test strips, a digital milligram scale like the Gemini‑50 is essential for testing larger quantities and measuring your dose for safer use.

Why We Chose the Gemini-50

We selected the Gemini-50 as our new miligram scale because it’s more user friendly and reliable across a wide range of use cases. Here’s why:

• Flat weighing platform – Easier to use with trays, papers, or containers and more stable than recessed or bowl-shaped platforms
• Flexible setup – Can be used with or without the included weigh tray 
• Less environmental interference – More consistent performance on slightly uneven or shaky surfaces, and less susceptible to airflow
• Simpler operation – More intuitive buttons and calibration process make the Gemini-50 accessible for beginners and experienced users alike 
• Color-coded display based on units – The screen changes color depending on the unit selected (e.g. grams vs ounces) which helps prevent user error.
• Larger platform and lighter tray – The platform is larger than the old model, and the weigh tray is lighter, reducing the chance of compromised accuracy during use especially for less experienced users

While our previous scale (which we may bring back for specific use cases) served us well, the Gemini‑50 was the clear choice for meeting the needs of the most people, most of the time. It’s a tool built not only for accurate measurement, but for long-term use in harm reduction contexts—whether that’s at home, out and about, or supporting others in your community.

Readability vs. Accuracy

It’s a common mistake among scale distributors to highlight readability without explaining the difference from accuracy which can lead to a false sense of precision. Let’s avoid that here.

The Gemini‑50 displays weights down to 0.001 g (1 mg), but its accuracy is ±0.005 g (5 mg). This means that values below ~5 mg may not be reliably measured, even if the display shows them.

Note: We generally do not advise trying to weigh quantities under ~10 mg on this device.

Calibration & Care Tips

To keep your scale performing accurately, we recommend the following:

• Calibrate regularly using the included weight, especially after travel or battery changes
• Use on a flat, stable surface away from vibration or wobble
• Avoid weighing in windy or drafty environments, as airflow can affect readings
• Replace batteries if the screen dims or becomes inconsistent
• Utilize the manufacturer warranty when needed

Warranty & Support

The Gemini‑50 is covered by a 10-year manufacturer warranty. If your scale is defective or stops working, you’ll need to contact American Weigh Scales (AWS) directly to initiate a claim.
