By: Rachel Clark, DanceSafe Intern A yellow shield-shaped pill with ‘Tesla’ stamped on one side and a score line on the other was sold as MDMA in Miami, FL, but tested as mostly three different unidentified chemicals with a small amount of MDMA. The sample was both sourced in and submitted from Miami, FL.  The sample did not react with Marquis or Mandelin reagents, and turned a very slight blue with the Mecke reagent. A capsule containing a tan, crystalline substance sold as MDMA was sourced from Ventura, CA but submitted from New York, NY. This sample tested as Methylone, a synthetic cathinone. According to the EcstasyData.org, the Marquis reagent turned yellow, the Mecke reacted a yellow/orange color, and Mandelin turned orange.

A small, blue pressed pill was sourced in Charlotte, NC but submitted to EcstasyData.org from Miami, FL. This sample was sold as Oxycodone, but did not test as such. The pill was found to contain fentanyl, a very potent synthetic opioid. The pill was stamped with “A 215” on the front, resembling an Oxycodone tablet, but is indeed counterfeit.
