DanceSafe is excited to announce the addition of Hannah Procell to the team!
Hannah Procell (she/her) received her bachelor’s degree from New College of Florida, the same university from which our Executive Director hails! There, she led her school’s chapter of Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP) for 3 years, and in 2018 received the Prometheus Award for Harm Reduction Activism for defending the community’s on-site harm reduction services against administrative attempts to shut down peer support harm reduction. Hannah went on to Washington D.C. to serve as SSDP’s U.S. Advocacy Fellow, where she lobbied Congress for federal drug policy reforms and participated in intersectional coalition building with national justice organizations. Hannah is proud of her work contributing to the most justice-focused legalization legislation ever written: The Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act of 2019. In addition to leading our Western North Carolina chapter, Hannah is now contracted as DanceSafe National’s Policy Change Coordinator, focusing on providing advocacy skills training and coalition building with our allies across the U.S. working to legalize and expand access to life-saving drug checking tools.
Hannah’s background and dedication to the pursuit of justice in harm reduction make her an amazing contributor to DanceSafe’s mission, and the movement as a whole. We are fortunate to have her!
