Amphetamine Test Strips Discontinued
Last Updated: June 4, 2024
Hello DanceSafe supporters,
As some of you may have noticed, we’ve removed our amphetamine test strip product from the DanceSafe store and will no longer be including amphetamine test strips with our reagent kits.
Over the last year we have been reviewing all of our products to ensure they are as effective, up-to-date, and scientifically backed as possible. This has included building out databases to track reagent reactions that are accompanied by secondary (lab) testing, compile test strip documentation, and regroup with other industry specialists to compare notes on best practices for at-home testing. To this end, we are currently in the final editing stages of our updated reagent instruction pamphlet, which will be heading to print soon.
Our amphetamine test strips did not make the cut. After evaluating the information we have available, we do not feel confident continuing to distribute them without a more thorough evaluation of their best use practices. In particular, we do not feel as though we have enough information about what substances might cause “interferences” (false results, like diphenhydramine/Benadryl causes false positives with fentanyl test strips). Without adequate information about interferences, we cannot stand behind the reliability of the strips as novel substances enter and exit the market.
We are currently focusing our efforts on continuing to improve the quality and robustness of our data around fentanyl and xylazine test strips. Based on the current state of the drug market, amphetamine test strips are simply not our top priority. In an ideal world we would have the capacity to do everything, but unfortunately we need to be selective about where, why, and how we expend our effort as an organization.
Marquis, Simon’s, and Froehde reagents are ideal for testing amphetamine-type substances, particularly amphetamine, methamphetamine, MDMA, and MDA. You can read more about different kinds of drug checking here.
We appreciate your understanding, and apologize for any disappointment or inconvenience this causes.
All the best,
The DanceSafe Team
