Thank You, Ms. Carissa Cornwell!

Thank You, Ms. Carissa Cornwell!

DanceSafe would like to thank Ms. Carissa Cornwell for the 15+ years she has given to the organization and for acting as an ambassador to all she came into contact with during her time with us. Over the years, she has helped to develop the organization and our national outreach efforts. She has played many roles and has been an integral part of our organization’s growth. Many of her achievements include establishing chapters and volunteers, developing new materials and supplies, building a presence in many music communities across the United States, and improving the quality of life of our overall nightlife and electronic music scenes. Starting with the Madison chapter, she has built up the Midwest DanceSafe group to have a strong presence in their local community.  DanceSafe is lucky to have had her dedication throughout the years. DanceSafe and Ms. Cornwell are parting ways. She will be missed, and we wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors.

Thank you for everything, Carissa! I wouldn’t be where I am now if it wasn’t for you. Volunteering with you and DanceSafe has opening up huge doors for me both inside the world of harm reduction advocacy and in my personal life; I am forever grateful. You will be deeply missed and this summer won’t be the same without you, but I hope you’re off to new, exciting things and I hope nothing but the best for you. You deserve it.

    With love and gratitude,

    Samantha Kulinski

Thank you for all of your efforts, intentions, and who you are. You have done immense good for the world we live in. The efforts and achievements you have made have been noticed and are being emulated by an exponentially increasing rate of people. I believe there will forever be the legacy of Carissa Dancesafe, as there should be. Heroes fight adversity for the good of human kind and in doing so inspire others to do so.. That is what you’ve done , so that is what you are. The world will be a remarkable better, safer, and more enjoyable place forever on because of you. “What you do for yourself dies with you on death, what you do for other lives on for eternity” Thank You.

I was deeply saddened to hear the news that Carissa will be leaving DanceSafe. It was about thirteen years ago in 2001 (at Live On The Decks 4 in Chicago) that Carissa and I first met. It wasn’t until several years later that I really began to learn and understand what her organization, “DanceSafe,” was about. DanceSafe is an organization that provides information to promote health and safety within the electronic music community. Over the years, my production company, ToyMaker Music, built a fantastic relationship with Carissa and DanceSafe. She provided information and education that allows events, like mine, to operate safely. We always welcomed Carissa at our events with open arms because she showed incredible dedication, knowledge, and enthusiasm about her work.

I want to personally “Thank” Carissa for her participation at our events. After being in the underground for over twenty plus years and organizing events for more than seventeen, I have seen pretty much everything that happens at Raves. Thanks to Carissa, I can now say that our events are a safe place to meet new people and have a phenomenal experience.
Over the years Carissa and I built a strong relationship. She has become more than a volunteer at my events, and is a tremendous friend and ally! I will always be grateful for what she contributed to my shows, but even more grateful to know we will continue to be friends no matter where life takes us! Carissa’s help made it possible for events like mine to continue to happen and allowed our scene to grow safely. It was with her strong operating principles & beliefs of harm reduction, and proper education, that allowed our attendees to make healthy, informed lifestyle choices, and educated decisions.

Thank You, Thank You Carissa for all you do! Family is Family! ToyMaker will never forget you! We wish you the best in whatever you pursue in the future. And, if you need a hand getting there, you know how to find me!

Thank you Carissa for all of your dedication to improving the quality of the experience of so many people in and out of every sector of music events/festivals/parties/counterculture and beyond. I have been following DanceSafe since my high school days (2001) and first learned of reagent testing through the organization; I’m not sure that I would have been well-informed if not for the tireless efforts of passionate freedom fighters like Ms. Cornwell. Her friendly demeanor and wealthy knowledge base are exactly the kind of initiative needed to continue the good work DanceSafe has done. Thank you Carissa, you have inspired me! Namaste
